This position will serve as the state's Healthcare Associated Infection
(HAI) Coordinator, acting as primary liaison between the state health
department, healthcare facilities, and other community partners; complete
grant-specific activities including enhancing relationships with key
stakeholders internal and external to ADHS; promote evidence-based HAI
prevention practices; oversee HAI funding; writes status reports and
technical updates; coordinate infectious disease surveillance activities;
supervise and manage epidemiology staff; and write grants to secure future
funding supporting the Office of Infectious Disease Services and the HAI
Program.

PURPOSE:
To manage the organization wide Infection Prevention and Control Program in
compliance with all accreditation, licensing and regulatory requirements,
and coordinate all activities related to surveillance and identification of
infections. To act as a liaison with local health authorities.
Responsibilities include expertise in infection prevention practices using
evidence based literature and best practice and/or national standards.
Communicating effectively with all levels of leadership related to infection
prevention and control and consulting with all hospital and medical staff to
prevent and reduce infection rates throughout organization. State and
National representation related to Infection Prevention best practices and
outcomes. Serves as a liaison among the infection control committee and
other hospital departments. To analyze and disseminate to appropriate
departments all surveillance data collected. To provide expertise in all
matters related to the prevention and control of healthcare acquired
infections and communicable diseases. This is a working position with budget
and human resources management responsibility. Works in partnership with the
Medical Director for Infection Control, Director of Quality and all patient
care areas. Presents key information to management, executive leadership,
and the board.
REQUIRED:
A proven track record of managing teams and collaborating across many
disciplines. Four or more years of experience in epidemiology, microbiology,
nursing, research and/or infection control. One or more years of management
experience with direct reports and budget responsibilities. The manager may
be a microbiologist, or other person trained in epidemiology, public health
or related fields. The qualifications include basic and advanced training
courses offered by professional organization, e.g. APIC, CDC, professional
certificate program, and/or extension program of an accredited university.
Two or more years of Infection Control experience.
PREFERRED:
Certification in Infection Control. Experience in a Children's Hospital.
